Monnaie
Mentioned in 862 in a charter of the Saint-Martin de Tours Abbey, under the Latin name of Modena, Monnaie is a municipality with a long farming tradition located in the north of the region. A centre of artistic expression, the village is closely linked to the humorist Raymond Devos, who was a frequent visitor in the 1980s. Tribute is paid to him every two years on the occasion of the “Les Devos de l’Humour” festival, where comedy and conviviality are the order of the day. Come also to discover the village’s rich architectural heritage – Saint-Martin Church, restored in 1874, the manors of "Bourdigal" and "La Vallée", the "Châteaux du Mortier", des "Belles Ruries", de "Madère" and the "Baric house", home to the 19th-century caricaturist.
