Chançay
A charming little village set in the peaceful Brenne Valley through which flows the river of the same name, Chançay is mentioned in the 10th-century charter of Marmoutier Abbey, under the Latin name of Cansiacum. Saint-Pierre Church is charged with history, having been gifted with a relic of the true cross brought back from the 7th Crusade by the Lord of Chançay, Hardouin de Maillé, in 1285.
Come as a family and enjoy a day by the lake at La Quintaine, or explore Valmer: an enchanting setting with Italian-style gardens and protective kitchen garden, all bearing the “Remarkable Garden” label. The valley is also scattered with fine private estates such as the Château de Montfort and the Vaumorin Manor.
