The "Loire à vélo" will take you across 2 French regions, and 6 "départements" (Cher, Loiret, Loir-et-Cher, Indre-et-Loire, Maine-et-Loire, Loire Atlantique) as well as through 6 major towns (Orléans, Blois, Tours, Saumur, Angers, and Nantes)
In recognition of its cultural and living landscape, the Loire valley has been on the World Heritage list since 30 November 2000. As a result, it is the largest internationally recognised site in France: stretching 280 km from Sully-sur-Loire in the Loiret to Chalonnes-sur-Loire in Anjou. Thanks to the Loire cycle path which will eventually cross the whole site, it's yours to explore.
Harmony is the watchword for this site where mankind finds his rightful place among nature: historical and natural heritage sites, châteaux, gardens, towns and villages, and the traditions as well as the culture of the river and the wine-making which together contribute to its richness.
